What are Medicare Advantage Plans?

Medicare Advantage Plans, also known as “Part C” are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. Medicare pays these companies to provide Medicare Part A and Part B benefits to people who enroll in the plan. Medicare Advantage Plans offer the same coverage as Original Medicare and also may include a Part D. These plans may also have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare.
It is important to note that Medicare Advantage Plans are still part of the Medicare program, and people who enroll in these plans still have Medicare rights and protections. Medicare Advantage Plans have a yearly limit on out-of-pocket costs for medical services, and once this limit is reached, the plan pays for all covered services. However, copayments may be charged during the first 20 days of the plan
Medicare Advantage Plans are not the only type of Medicare health plan available. There are other types of Medicare health plans that are still part of Medicare, but are not Medicare Advantage Plans. These plans offer different coverage options depending on the specific plan.

What is covered under Medicare Advantage Plans?

Medicare Advantage Plans offer the same coverage as Original Medicare, Part A and Part B. These plans provide all the benefits of Original Medicare, including hospital, medical, and prescription drug coverage. Medicare Advantage Plans also have a yearly limit on out-of-pocket costs for medical services, which can be lower than the out-of-pocket costs under Original Medicare.

It is important to note that Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private companies approved by Medicare, and it will vary depending on the plan and the location12. Before enrolling in a Medicare Advantage Plan, it is recommended to review the plans offering and network of healthcare providers to ensure that it meets the individual’s healthcare needs and budget.
